Genzyme Biomaterials
The biomaterials technology platforms include Hylumed®, our high purity bulk hyaluronan (HA); Hylan A & B, our crossed linked hyaluronan platform; as well as Focal®, our proprietary PEG-based technology – all biocompatible and bioabsorbable. Genzyme has developed a number of products based on these biomaterial platforms including Synvisc® (hylan G-F 20), for pain due to osteoarthritis of the knee; the Sepra™ family of adhesion prevention products; and Hylaform® and Captique®, our HA-based dermal fillers. Hylumed®, our bulk hyaluronan is used by several of our partners in their commercially available medical devices. Our goal is to pursue collaborative partnerships that will yield breakthrough product innovations in the biomaterials field. Leveraging our considerable scientific expertise and strong patent position, we will apply the principles of chemistry, biology, materials science and engineering to develop the next generation of biomaterials based products. Collaboration: Supporting Our Partners’ Needs
Over the 20 years that Genzyme has spent developing and expanding our biomaterial technology platforms, we have established a large intellectual property estate. This strong patent portfolio can be made available to our partners in support of their development programs. From the development of our own proprietary products to those of our partners, we have been, and continue to be, a pioneer in biomaterials research. A key part of what we offer to potential partners is our R&D infrastructure and capabilities. As a business unit of Genzyme Corporation, our extensive resources encompass the research and development, clinical affairs, manufacturing, marketing, and regulatory expertise of a global biotechnology leader – all of which we can leverage to support our partners’ needs. With a proven record of collaboration, we are the right choice of partner as you look to develop your biomaterials based products. |
